Aims and perspectives:

Kaohsiung Medical University is the oldest medical university in southern Taiwan. The Department of Chemistry was established on August 1, 1990 and recruits 102 students each year. The departmental aim is to educate and train students as professionals in the fields of pharmaceutical science and technology, environmental technology, trace analysis, materials chemistry, biochemistry and applied chemistry. Our department consists of nine professors, six associate professors, five assistant professors. Required courses in our department include organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, analytical chemistry, physical chemistry, biochemistry, and pharmaceutical chemistry. Since 2007, the majority of the students in our department have been classified into the Medicinal Chemistry or Applied Chemistry groups. These groups recruit students separately in order to improve students' professional skills and competitiveness.
